Abstract
Understanding the determinants of health (DoH) is essential to improving population wellbeing, as many influential factors lie outside traditional healthcare. This track foregrounds often overlooked or neglected determinants—such as housing, social conditions, and broader environmental drivers—that shape long‑term health outcomes. Discussions will cover how the built environment and climate change influence risk factors, alongside the growing significance of digital determinants like access, literacy, and equity in an increasingly tech‑enabled world. The track will also explore commercial determinants, examining how corporate practices, marketing, and product availability impact population health. Anchoring these perspectives is the concept of the “cause of causes,” emphasising upstream drivers that generate health inequities. Together, these sessions deepen understanding of the complex, interconnected forces that shape health at scale.
