Prof Allan Wailoo

Professor of Health Economics, Sheffield Centre for Health and Related Research (SCHARR), The University of Sheffield

Prof Allan Wailoo, PhD, is a Professor of Health Economics in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR), University of Sheffield, UK where he has worked for over 25 years. He is director of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s Decision Support Unit (NICE DSU) and co-Director (with Mark Sculpher) of the UK Department of Health Policy Research Unit for Economic Evaluation (EEPRU). He was a member of the NICE Medical Technologies Appraisal Committee for 10 years and the International Advisory Panel for ACE, Singapore for 6 years. His work covers applied economic evaluation and methods development, particularly in the analysis of health utility data. He has published numerous papers on mapping methods and has wider research interests in all areas of economic evaluation and related methods.
