Prof Andrew Lee

Professor of Public Health, School of Medicine and Population Health, The University of Sheffield

Professor Andrew Lee is Professor of Public Health at the School of Medicine and Population Health, the University of Sheffield, UK.

After qualifying in medicine from the University of Edinburgh and training in paediatrics, Professor Lee managed primary healthcare and tuberculosis control programmes in Afghanistan, and worked in humanitarian aid in disaster zones. Dual-trained in general practice and public health, he has held high-level consultant and director roles within the National Health Service in England, local government, Public Health England, and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), where he was a Regional Deputy Director for Health Protection.

Currently, Professor Lee is the Editor-in-Chief for Public Health, founding Co-Editor-in-Chief for Public Health in Practice, both journals of the Royal Society for Public Health. He is also a technical advisor to the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI), and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Santé Publique France.
