Dr Su Aw is an Assistant Professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore, and an Honorary Policy Fellow at the Tsao Foundation. A socio-behavioural scientist trained in psychology and public health, she has over 10 years of research experience across the Asia-Pacific. Her research examines how power, place and community agency shape health and wellbeing, particularly among ageing populations.
She is Principal Investigator of a Cities of Tomorrow research grant examining how co-located community hubs shape social capital, community life and health in Singapore. Previously, as Senior Research Fellow at the International Longevity Centre Singapore, Tsao Foundation, she developed and evaluated community empowerment and community-centred initiatives. She has undertaken research and development work with rural communities facing population ageing, climate impacts and disaster risk, including developing frameworks and practical tools for strengthening community resilience. Her work uses participatory and mixed-methods approaches to strengthen communities’ agency in shaping the conditions that influence their health.
