Abstract

Power dynamics and place based environments play a critical role in shaping health equity, influencing who is heard, how decisions are made, and which communities benefit from population level interventions. This track highlights approaches that centre community voices and lived experience, including citizen science and community based participatory research (CBPR), which position residents as equal partners in identifying priorities and co designing solutions. Sessions will also explore models of community empowerment—such as Age Well Neighbourhoods—that demonstrate how locally driven initiatives can strengthen social cohesion, resilience, and supportive environments for healthy living. Together, these discussions underscore the importance of shifting power toward communities and grounding population health strategies in the realities of place.
