Dr Philip Yap is a geriatrician and palliative care physician with a deep interest in geriatric medicine and gerontology, especially those pertaining to dementia, long term care, end-of-life care as well as caregiving by family members. He has also done much work in psychometric validation of bedside cognitive screens as well as scales pertaining to caregivers, quality of life and quality of care. His current interests lie in evaluating interventions to improve quality of care for frail seniors and those with dementia in the acute hospital, and comprehensive care systems for older persons in the community. Over the years, he has mentored two PhD and several masters students on research initiatives related to elder care.
